Micro-Skills Development and Error Correction
We target key micro-skills essential for effective communication:
- Pronunciation, stress, and intonation
- Lexical range, including collocations and idiomatic expressions
- Discourse markers and fluency strategies
- Functional language (e.g., agreeing, clarifying, negotiating)
Error correction is performed using a delayed feedback model, enabling learners to focus on fluency during production while receiving targeted corrections during post-task review. This respects cognitive load and promotes learning without interrupting flow. Diagnostic, Formative, and Summative Assessment
Every student begins with a needs analysis, including a language placement test and a spoken diagnostic interview. This data informs:
- Initial group placement
- A personalized language roadmap aligned with their objectives
We employ formative assessment through ongoing instructor observation, weekly oral performance tasks, and learner self-reflection.
Summative assessments at the end of each course phase include:
- Oral fluency evaluations
- Writing assessments
- Practical communication tasks
Progress is measured both quantitatively (CEFR-aligned benchmarks) and qualitatively (confidence, fluidity, appropriateness in context).
